Urmila Kothare is addicted to Aerial Silk

Born in Pune, Urmila Kanitkar Kothare is a trained Kathak Dancer, and has a MA in it. She has taken lessons in Bhubaneshwar from Sujata Mahapatra for Odissi as well. In 1997, she participated in the program held for Fiftieth Independence Day Celebtrations for India.She  is a person who is constantly experimenting with new dance forms.
But with something like aerial silk one needs to have strength skills and concentration. Urmila was amazed to watch Phulwa Khamkar’s daughter Aasma who has been taking training in aerial silk for some time now.

This also made her think that she should have started the training at young age. However she was pleasantly surprised when her trainer Aditi Deshpande and said that ‘It’s not late at all”
Graduated from the esteemed St Xaviers in Mumbai and completed her BA degree there. Urmila is married to Adinath Kothare. Urmila Kothare took this up as a means to build her core body strength. She stated that her upper body was weak and the thought of lifting her entire body just using her hands sent shivers down her spine. However once she started her training she saw the results that improved her core strength considerably.
Due her work commitments it is not possible for her to train daily, but she manages to spend one and half hour once every week for aerial silk. Her trainer Aditi, has also trained Sushmita Sen in silk. She always keeps encouraging Urmila Kothare to do most difficult postures, which have made her addicted to Aerial Silk now.
